Instructions:
Before Flaring:
• Check that both the inner and outer pipe surfaces are free of burrs.
• Oil the cone surface to reduce friction.
Flaring the Pipe:
1. Raise the flaring cone to its highest position by turning the t-handle.
2. Lift plier handle to a 90 degree angle.
3. Slide pivoting yoke backward to expose tubing wheels.
4. Spin the wheels to match the pipe diameter. Pipe sizes are etched into the metal.
5. Insert tubing so that it protrudes slightly above the wheels.
6. Slide pivoting yoke forward and close plier handle to lock.
7. Turn T-handle clockwise to advance cone.
8. Flare pipe, being careful not to over tighten.
FAQ’s
Q – How hard should I tighten the flaring tool?
A – It is better to slightly under-flare the pipe then to apply too much pressure. Over flaring the pipe can crack or damage the flare. As a rule, tighten the yoke with normal hand strength until you feel resistance. This usually will be enough for a proper flare.
